HERNE View CofE School and Apple Orchard Pre-School in Ilminster celebrated World Book Day with “great enthusiasm” as children and staff arrived at school dressed as their favourite book characters.
The event featured a school-wide book swap, allowing students to exchange their books and discover new stories, fostering a community spirit and a shared love for reading.
In addition to the book swap, the day was filled with activities, including a bookmark competition that showcased the artistic talents of the students.
A school spokesperson said: "Throughout the day, both children and staff shared stories, bringing books to life through their passionate storytelling.
"The celebration not only highlighted the joy of reading but also brought the school community closer together through their shared love for literature."

The day was apparently a hit with the children who each shared their thoughts with The News.
Harvey said: “I love World Book Day and dressing up as the Hulk.”
Cecelia said: “We had a book swap and there were loads of books to choose from.”
Freda said: “I love dressing up as a witch for World Book Day.”
Nicholas said: “We had lots of fun on World Book Day. I am dressed up as ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ and the book swap was fun.”
