Ilminster travelled to Watchet and repeated the 2-0 win that they had in the League back in August.
First half goals from Pablo Borges and Olly Pearson were enough to see them progress to the next round of the League Cup.
From the off, Ilminster completely dominated the home side, creating some good chances as Josh Phillips, Tayler Jefferson and Borges all went close.
Midway through the first half, the team got the goal that they deserved on the balance of play.
It certainly had a touch of good fortune.
Pearson scored from just inside the opposition half with a first-time volley hit towards the goal that saw the Watchet keeper backpedalling as he could only palm it into the top of his own goal.
Just after this, Josh Phillips made a good run and pulled the ball back for Borges who smashed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
The Blues were on top throughout the rest of the half and the whole of the second half, with Watchet never threatening their goal.
They really should have added more goals and been more clinical in front of the goal in the second half.
Although it's job done, and they are into the second round where they have been drawn against Glastonbury away.
Once again, the defence kept yet another clean sheet, their fifth in the last seven matches.
Star man was defender Owen Burn who was on top of his game all afternoon.
Next week, the team are back in league action where they travel to Worle.
The match kicks off at 3.00pm.
