AN AIR ambulance landed “as a precautionary measure” after a member of a primary school near Ilminster felt “unwell” this afternoon.

Neroche Primary School in Broadway confirmed they “needed to call the ambulance service” and "this resulted in an air ambulance landing on the school field" to support "the member of our school community”.

Headteacher Mrs Collins sent a letter out to parents and said “the children were all amazing and coped very well with the situation”.

The letter, which the Chard and Ilminster News was allowed to use, read: “Dear parents,

“Just to update you, we needed to call the ambulance service today due to a member of our school community who became unwell this afternoon.

“This resulted in the air ambulance helicopter landing on our school field as a precautionary measure.

“A land ambulance also attended and the member of our school community, who was unwell, has been supported.

“The children were all amazing and coped very well with the situation.

“We are very grateful for the brilliant service we received by both the paramedics and the air ambulance.

“Thank you for your concern and support.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12:56hrs on Wednesday, November 8 to an incident in Broadway, Ilminster.

“The resources we sent included a double-crewed land ambulance and an air ambulance.”
