A LINK road to the A303 will be closed overnight next week during works to solve a drainage issue.

Somerset Council’s highways team are investigating and solving the problem on the A3088 Cartgate Link Road from Monday evening (July 10).

The road will be closed between the A303/A3088 roundabout to the roundabout that connects the A3088 with Bunford Lane.

The work is planned to run from Monday (July 10) to Saturday (July 15) between 7pm to 7am each night so that the highway drainage systems can be cleansed.

The works have been programmed to minimise disruption to the travelling public on the major route in to and out of Yeovil.

Efforts were made to clear the drainage system during the previous road closure, as the team carried out its programme of ash die back tree clearance, but this was not practical at the time.

A Somerset Council spokesperson said: “This drainage improvement work is very important for the long-term health of the road and for the safety of road users in the area.

“The planned evening closures are to minimise disruption for everyone; however, we give our thanks for your patience if you experience any short-term delays.”
