A MAIN road in Ilminster will be closed to traffic, including emergency vehicles, for seven nights starting later this week.

Work to repair a section of Station Road is due to start on Thursday (June 22) and should be completed by Friday, June 30.

No work will be carried out on Saturday and Sunday (June 24 and 25).

The road will be closed between 6pm and 7am on weekdays so the work can be completed.

The evening closure is to ensure that the workforce remain safe and to minimise disruption during peak hours.

Cllr Mike Rigby, Somerset Council’s executive lead member for transport and digital, said: “As we get further into summer, our resurfacing programme is critically important to the long-term health of our network.

“While there may be some short-term disruption as this work takes place, we have ensured that it remains open at weekends and during peak hours so that this important work in Ilminster can be done safely and efficiently.”

Access for residents and businesses in the immediate area will be maintained throughout and a diversion will be in place, with full details available HERE.
