ILMINSTER Cricket Club held their annual season awards evening over the weekend.

Players and staff were honoured for their performances both on and off the pitch in the 2022 season.

The club said: "Thanks to all who attended the 2022 Presentation night.

"In summary a great season with a great youth section starting to shine at the higher levels! Well done to all the award winners this year."

The club celebrated a very strong season for both men's, women's and juniors cricket and from all reports the awards evening was also a big success.

The winners were:

  • Ladies: Players player: Sophie Gibbins/Kate Beaumont, Capt. player: Emma Harris.
  • 4th team: Players player: Nick Warry
  • 3rd team: Young player: Toby Harris, POY: James Treacher
  • 2nd Team: Player of the year: Riley Millett/Sammi Khan
  • 1st team: Player of the year: Ben Johnson, Champagne moment: J T Langridge last ball at Bridgwater in semi final Somerset cup
  • Under-19: Player of the year: Lachlan Rice.
  • Club Person of the year: Sian Sainsbury
  • Young Club Person: Callum Rice

A special shoutout must go to Sian Sainsbury. Not only did she win the Club Person of the Year award at Ilminster CC, she was also recognised on a bigger scale.

She was awarded the Unsung Hero award at the recent Somerset Cricket Foundation's Grassroots Awards.

Ilminster CC said on Sian: "Huge congratulations to Sian Sainsbury who won the unsung hero award at Somerset Cricket Foundation evening.

"Her commitment and willingness to go above and beyond is undisputable. Well done Sian. And thanks for everything you do for the club."

In other news at the club, their annual general meeting is scheduled to take place soon.

The club has said: "Ilminster Cricket Club invites you to attend its annual general meeting on Wednesday 23rd November at the Tony Rice Bar. 7:30pm start."

Within the AGM all matters relating to the club and operations will be discussed as well as matters on the pitch as well.

Club members and members of the public are welcome to attend the event that will take place on November 23 at the Tony Rice Bar.
