FORMER Conservative MP Ann Widdecombe enthralled guests at a Somerset WI lunch in Ilminster.
A total of 140 people attended the fundraising event at The Shrubbery, with the politician turned author giving an after lunch speech.
Judy Glossop, a trustee of the county WI, said: "Ann Widdecombe was an amazing speaker.
"She had no notes and spoke off the top of her head.
"She loved answering the many questions she was asked by the audience.
"Between courses during the lunch, she got up and went to each table to chat to people so that everybody got to meet her."
Ms Widdecombe also carried out a book signing at the end of the event.
