TWO public toilet doors are set to be replaced at Ilminster recreation ground after they were damaged in an act of “vandalism”.

The two affected toilets - including the disabled facility - have been locked by Ilminster Town Council until the doors have been replaced.

The town council made residents aware of the damage on Monday, September 26 on Facebook.

A spokeperson said: “Please be aware that two public toilet doors (one is to the disabled toilet) on the recreation ground have been vandalised.

“The toilets are still usable but the doors won't lock. We are in the process of getting them fixed/replaced so please bear with us.”

They later provided an update, adding: “The two toilets with broken doors are now locked until we can get the doors replaced.

“The other three toilet door locks have been damaged and will be replaced as soon as possible.”

Earlier this year, several pieces of equipment at the recreation ground were sprayed with graffiti in a spate of vandalism.

In July, the council reported that newspapers had been set on fire in the Sophie Louise boat, a play facility installed in the park ahead of its opening in April 2021.
