A VAN was badly damaged in a suspected arson attack in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, March 17).
A fire engine from Martock Fire Station was sent to reports of the fire in a lane in the village at 3.44am.
The vehicle was well alight by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.
They put out the blaze using breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and small tools.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The van was 50 per cent damaged by fire and the cause was believed to have been deliberate.
"The police were requested and the incident handed over to them."
