GUESTS enjoyed a busy light switch on event in Ilminster last Friday (November 19).

School choirs entertained visitors from 2.30pm, the roads closed at 5pm, and the lights were turned on at 7pm.

There was food, drink, music, children's entertainment, majorettes and more.

A spokesperson for Ilminster Christmas Lights said: "We did it! The town looks great!

"Thanks everyone for joining yesterday. And a big thanks to the lights committee volunteers, The IOUs, DJ Ginge, MC Audio, Chard Carnival Committee, Gemini Carnival Club, Ilminster Diamonds, our town crier and everyone else who helped make the night a success.

"A few repairs need to be done in the next few days so if you didn’t get chance to pop any change in the buckets last night, then you can donate to our JustGiving page."
