A VILLAGE shop has been sold for around 50 per cent more than its guide price.
The freehold of the ground floor premises in St James Street, South Petherton, sold at auction for £172,000.
It had a guide price of £110,000 to £120,000 in the sale by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson.
Senior auction appraiser Audrey Smith said: “Ready-made investments of this quality remain in high demand.
“Bidders saw the value of an attractive double-fronted shop in a prime location in the centre of the village with the benefit of an existing letting to give an immediate return on investment.”
The property was auctioned jointly with Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP of Bristol.
