FIRE crews rescued 10 elderly residents after severe flooding in Ilminster during the early hours of this morning (October 21).
Crews from South Molton, Exmouth, Chard and Ilminster attended the incident at Holway House Park on Station Road around 1am.
As crews were concerned for the elderly residents, fire engines dealing with flooding incidents elsewhere were diverted to attend.
A water rescue boat team from Exmouth also attended.
"Crews worked well, accessing individual park homes to assess occupants and evacuate them where necessary," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
"They used flood suits to wade alongside the boat, making multiple trips to get occupants to a place of safety.
"The residents were then transported by fire service staff to local temporary accommodation that had been arranged for them.
"We rescued 10 residents in total, with other residents safely evacuating themselves prior to and during our attendance, following suitable safety advice and guidance."
The incident was under control by 5.30am.
