CARE staff in Somerset scooped multiple awards at an annual ceremony last month.

Employees at Care South, at Home's Somerset home care office in Crewkerne, attended the company's Star Awards ceremony on September 21.

The event was held over Zoom with Care South’s chairman Jane Stichbury, and chief executive Simon Bird, as hosts.

The Crewkerne office was selected as Home Care Office of the Year, and manager Sarah Broom was awarded Manager of the Year.

This is because she took on a new satellite office in Dorchester, covering West Dorset, while still growing the Crewkerne business and looking after her team.

Martin Sheppard from the Crewkerne office was presented with the award for the Best Carer of the Year.

Sarah, Crewkerne’s Care South at Home manager, said: “It’s been a busy time and the team has worked exceptionally hard and it’s fantastic to receive this recognition for them all.

"It’s also a real honour to have been nominated and to have won Care South at Home’s Manager of the Year – I am truly touched.

"A big thanks also to Martin for all his hard work this year. Martin is an exceptional member of the Care South at Home team and his support is invaluable.”

Trustees, directors and senior managers joined each care home in person to present the awards to the winners.

Simon Bird, chief executive at Care South, added: “Our Star Awards offer us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the professionalism, passion and commitment to care that is delivered day in, day out by our staff.

"They give us the chance to acknowledge and thank everyone for their hard work and dedication – especially during these past 18 months.”
