Alan Roy Archer, 53, of Roundham, Crewkerne, pleaded guilty at Taunton Magistrates' Courts to doing 89mph on the 70mph stretch of the A303 near Wincanton on January 1 this year.

Sam David Mularczyk was handed a total of 12 points at Taunton Deane Magistrates' Court, but was not disqualified as it could have caused hardship to an employee and a family member if he lost his licence.

Mularczyk, 29, of Oakenford Cottage, committed the first offence in Ottery St Mary on September 21 last year.

He was then stopped for repeating the same offence on the A3259 at Monkton Heathfield on October 14.

He was given six penalty points for each count, normally sufficient for a driving disqualification.

He was fined a total of £460, with a £46 victim surcharge and £170 costs after admitting the offences.
