A WOMAN who was abusive and threatening towards her sister and mother during a row at her sister’s home in Yeovil and was caught shoplifting twice in Crewkerne has appeared in court.

Lynsey Rebecca Vincent became tearful when she was “told some home truths” after going to the address in Springfield Road and then chased her sister and grabbed her by the hair.

A week later she stole gift sets from Boots in Crewkerne worth hundreds of pounds and then returned to the same store five days later with another woman and repeated the offence.

Vincent, 33, of no fixed address, appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates sitting at Yeovil.

She pleaded guilty to using towards her sister and mother threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause them to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against them at Yeovil on October 23.

She also admitted stealing Christmas gift sets worth £500 from Boots in Crewkerne on October 31 and the theft of a further £275 worth of gift sets from the same shop with another female on November 4.

She denied two further allegations of permitting somebody to use a vehicle without insurance or a licence on November 18.

Prosecutor Andrew Escott-Watson said that Vincent went to her sister’s house in Yeovil and there was an argument between them and their mother which continued outside.

“When the police were called to the scene they arrived and found Vincent’s sister and mother who said that the defendant had come to the address,” he said.

“They said that Vincent had suddenly broken down in tears after they had given her some home truths and she then chased her sister and grabbed her by the hair.

“The victim then went outside and the defendant lunged for her again and then jumped into a car and was driven away.”

On October 31 Vincent went to Boots in Crewkerne at 1pm and went to the Christmas gift set display and removed various sets worth around £500.

“She put them into a shopping bag and then left and got into a car that was waiting outside and left the scene,” said Mr Escott-Watson.

On November 4 she returned to Boots with a female and they stole a further amount of gift sets valued at £275 and went outside where a car pulled up again and they left the area.

The case was adjourned until February 22 for the Probation Service to prepare a pre sentence report on Vincent and in the meantime she was released on unconditional bail.

The denied offences were adjourned until March 19 when the defendant was ordered to return to the court again to stand trial.
