A BUILDING was badly damage in an early hours fire.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a number of 999 calls reporting the blaze in a property in Church Street, Crewkerne, shortly after 1.30am today (Thursday).
Four engines from Crewkerne, Yeovil, Martock and Beaminster were sent to the incident, along with an ariel ladder platform from Yeovil and a command support unit from Street.
Fire control also requested assistance from ambulance, police and Western Power.
On arrival the officer in charge confirmed the first floor of the building to be well alight and everybody was accounted for.
The officer in charge of the incident quickly requested the attendance of four further engines from Chard, Yeovil, Martock and Ilminster.
Crews tackled the fire with attack jets, covering jets, compressed air foam, thermal imaging cameras and a hydrant to supply water to the incident.
The incident has now been scaled down with the fire now out.
One engine remained on the scene to damp down hotspots.
