HOLYROOD sixth form engineering students were recently invited by EDF Energy to take a look around the new Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant.
They were given a tour of the site where they saw two of the reactors and a talk about further careers, engineering opportunities and apprenticeship schemes within EDF.
Rob Janes, engineering teacher at Holyrood, said: “This was an ideal opportunity for Holyrood’s Engineering students to meet with engineers who had been in their position only a few years ago.
“They were privileged to see first-hand where the skills that they are developing now could be utilised in the development of new technologies and long-term energy solutions in the future.
“All our students felt that the visit had been ideal in informing them more about engineering careers.”
