Hundreds enjoy annual Chard Party in the Park celebration

Crowds gathered in Chard on Sunday, July 26, for an outdoor celebration of community and entertainment.

The event took place at Jocelyn Park and was officially opened by mayor Tricia O’Brien, who welcomed visitors to a day packed with fun and festivity.

Councillors Jason Baker and Garry Shortland, speaking on behalf of the Chard Town Team, said: "We are delighted with the success of this year's Party in the Park.

"Events like this bring our community together and showcase the very best of Chard."

A full programme of live entertainment kept audiences entertained throughout the day, with performances from Silverstar Elite Majorettes, Stevie Nicole Brown, Kelly Dale, Paul Lewis, Tennessee Rose, Craig and Heidi Isaac, Rose Acoustics, Cathy and Simon, and Cohen Baulch.

A standout feature was the introduction of the Mini Town Crier Competition, which drew young entrants from across the area.

Seven-year-old Archie Newman was named Chard's Mini Town Crier for the coming year.

Stalls from local fundraising groups, food vendors, and cake stands lined the park, helping to raise money for good causes while creating a lively atmosphere.

Mr Baker and Mr Shortland expressed thanks to everyone who made the event possible.

They said: "We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Mayor, Tricia O'Brien, for officially opening the event, and to everyone who helped make the day possible, particularly the members of the Chard Carnival Committee, Chard Town Team and Chard Town Council.

"Their hard work, dedication and support behind the scenes are invaluable and greatly appreciated."

Hundreds of families and visitors attended the event, enjoying the sights and sounds on offer.

Mr Baker and Mr Shortland added: "Finally, thank you to everyone who came along and made the day such a success.

"We hope you all had a fantastic time, and we look forward to welcoming you to our next community event."
