From Chard to the Cabinet Office: The Remarkable Story of Margaret Bondfield
A special event in Chard will honour the life of a pioneering female politician.
Chard Museum will host author Nan Sloane, who will recount the story of Margaret Bondfield, the first woman to be appointed to the UK government's Cabinet.
Ms Bondfield, originally from Chard, rose from being a shop assistant to becoming the minister of labour in 1929.
Ms Sloane, who recently published a biography on Ms Bondfield, will speak at the Chard Guildhall on Wednesday, July 29, at 7.30pm.

Crewkerne
Relaxed Concert
A music centre in Crewkerne is starting 'relaxed concerts' for all ages and needs.
The event will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 10.30am to 11.15am at the South Somerset Music Centre, in The Methodist School Room.
The sessions offer live piano music meant to engage the imagination and senses.
The concert will be led by live pianist Jonathan Delbridge, and may also include gentle light projection and optional hands-on activities.
Making noise and moving around will be accepted, allowing everyone to feel welcome.
General admission costs £8, plus a 20p ticket service fee, while ages five and under can attend for free.

Botanical Illustration
A new botanical illustration workshop is set to take place at Ilminster Arts Centre.
The workshop, led by Katherine O’Shea, offers attendees the chance to learn how to observe and draw plants using various materials and contemporary styles.
The session is designed for participants to spend time observing nature, discovering personal drawing styles, and enjoying the process in a group setting.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own flowers and watercolour set.

Monthly Coffee Morning
A monthly coffee morning offers free entry and real coffee in South Petherton this week.
The event is held at The David Hall on the last Wednesday of each month, with the next event running from 10am to midday on Wednesday, July 29.
Visitors can expect a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, with the chance to meet up with friends or make new ones.
There will be book and bric-a-brac stalls, and often live music.
It is an opportunity for people to socialise and enjoy a coffee.
Yeovil
The Spooky Men’s Chorale
The Spooky Men's Chorale is coming to Yeovil this week.
The group will perform at Westlands Entertainment Venue on Thursday, July 30.
Formed in Australia in 2001, the group has become a festival and theatre favourite in their native country, as well as the UK and Europe, with seven albums and 900 gigs under their belts.

A musical featuring "hilarious" rock hits is set to run in Yeovil from this week.
Rock of Ages will open at Swan Theatre on Friday, July 31.

The 1980s-themed show will include hits like Don't Stop Believin', We Built This City, and I Want To Know What Love Is.
It centres on the lives of Drew and Sherrie, set against the backdrop of LA's Sunset Strip in 1987, and the show contains strong language and sexual references.
