Chard
Chard History Group
A South Somerset history group is preparing for a talk on Italy's Renaissance links to the West Country.
The event, hosted by the Chard History Group, takes place in The Guildhall on Thursday, July 9, at 7.30 pm.
Connor Payne will speak on how the art, architecture, and ideas of the Renaissance journeyed from Italy to the West Country, marking the area with its distinctive touch.
The group - known for its broad selection of topics and visiting speakers - welcomes both members and guests.
Entry fees are £2.50 for members and £3.50 for visitors.
Chard Horticultural & Craft Show
The Chard Horticultural & Craft Show is taking place on Saturday, July 11, at The Guildhall.
Open to the public from 10.30 am, the free-entry event brings together a colourful showcase of homegrown produce, beautiful flowers, handmade crafts, baking, and more.

The Cooltones and Basement 17
Live music and Mexican cuisine are coming to a venue near Crewkerne.
Retro-rock cover band The Cooltones will perform songs from the 50s to the 80s at North Down Orchard on Friday, July 10, from 6 pm to 11 pm.
The musical evening will be complemented by Basement 17’s catering.
The family-run enterprise specialises in Mexican and Latin American flavours, with Carlos turning childhood memories into "mouth-watering feasts" using local, seasonal produce.
Starting as a taco venture during the pandemic, Basement 17 has expanded to cater for events across the South West.
North Down Orchard is located in Haselbury Plucknett.
Ilminster
Ceruleo
Baroque ensemble Ceruleo will perform at the Ilminster Arts Centre.
The performance begins at 7.30 pm on Friday, July 10, with doors opening at 6.30 pm.
Formed at The Guildhall School in 2014, the group specialises in music from Restoration England and Seventeenth Century Italy.
Ceruleo has since performed at St John’s Smith Square and St Martin-in-the-Fields, and appeared live on BBC Radio 3's In Tune.
The ensemble comprises sopranos Jenni Harper and Emily Owen, theorbo player Toby Carr, viola da gamba player Kate Conway, and Satoko Doi-Luck on harpsichord.
All tickets are £20, with student tickets £5.

South Petherton
Heathen Apostles
A Los Angeles band playing Gothic Outlaw music are set to perform in South Petherton.
The Heathen Apostles will take to the stage in The David Hall on Friday, July 10, at 8 pm for their UK tour.
Formed in 2013, they infuse Southern Gothic Americana imagery with minor-chord melodies and influences from Gothic Roots music, Bluegrass, Blues, and Gypsy Jazz.
Their album ‘Dust to Dust’ was awarded Album of the Year by Folk n Rock Magazine in 2019.

Yeovil
Just Dance 2026
A dance school is celebrating a milestone with a special show in Yeovil.
The Miss Natasha Dance School will be marking 10 years since its opening with its Just Dance 2026 performance, with tickets available at westlandsyeovil.co.uk/whats-on/dance/just-dance-2026/10306#tickets.
Taking place on Saturday, July 11, at 3.30 pm, and Sunday, July 12, at 2.30 pm, the show will feature performers ranging from as young as three years old to adults.
The event will be held at Westlands Entertainment Venue.
