A historic ship's bell has been returned to Chard after being cleaned.
Chard Royal Naval Association members returned the HMS Campion ship's bell to Chard Guildhall on Thursday, May 14, after it was cleaned.
The bell, which had been on display for more than 40 years, was taken by Dick Moon for cleaning after it lost its shine.
The bell was given to Chard after HMS Campion was decommissioned for the "sterling efforts" made by the residents at the beginning of the Second World War towards the building of the vessel, its upkeep, and support provided to the sailors at the end of the war.
Chard Town Council mayor, Cllr Victoria Bates, and deputy Chard Town Council mayor, Cllr Tricia O'Brien, took charge of the bell on behalf of the residents of Chard.
The bell will now be permanently displayed in the Guildhall's foyer.
