A COMMUNITY appeal has been issued following ongoing reports of break-ins and theft in the Henson Park area of Chard.
South Somerset Neighbourhood Policing have issued a community appeal following reports of shed breaks, vehicles being entered, motorbikes stolen and an attempted fuel theft in and around the Henson Park area of Chard.
Police said: “We know there has been a lot of discussion on local social media, and we want to stress how important it is that every incident is formally reported.
“Online posts help raise awareness, but reports made directly to us are what allow patterns to be identified, resources to be directed, and offenders to be targeted.”
Police request that residents report any suspicious behaviour, any thefts, attempts, or damage, CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam footage, even if it ‘seems minor or too late’.
Residents can call 101 for non-emergencies, 999 if a crime is in progress, report online via the Avon and Somerset Police website or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800555111.
Police are also requesting that residents ‘stay vigilant’ and ‘take extra precautions’.
This includes locking sheds, garages, vehicles and gates, keeping keys and valuables out of sight, removing tools or fuel containers from gardens, using motion lights, alarms or CCTV where possible, looking out for neighbours and reporting anything suspicious.
