THE Cricket St Thomas Golf Club team announced they are the new owners of the Windwhistle Inn, with plans to reopen the pub with a new look and name.
The Windwhistle Inn, located in Cricket St Thomas, near Chard, reopened in December 2025, after months of renovation works, having previously closed in November 2024.
It then closed earlier this month after St Austell Brewery sold it to the team at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club, who have now officially taken over the keys to the inn.

The premises will be closed as further refurbishment works take place, and when it reopens in summer, it will be renamed the Cricket St Thomas Country Inn.
On a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for the club said: “The Cricket St Thomas family has officially grown – we’ve just picked up the keys to The Windwhistle Inn.
“We’re excited to breathe new life into this historic landmark. To get everything ready for its next chapter, we will be closing the doors briefly for refurbishment.
“When we reopen, we’ll be welcoming you back to the all-new Cricket St Thomas Country Inn. Expect a fresh look, fantastic food, and drink, a warm atmosphere, and you already know and love from the Golf Club.”
