Chard Guildhall set for jam-packed programme of events

The Chard Guildhall is set for a jam-packed programme of events.

The venue will welcome gigs, parties, and other festivities in celebration of the culture and community of the town this year.

The fun kicks off with a lively 80s Night on Saturday, April 25.

Guests can expect a retro evening of dancing, with those in fancy dress eligible for a free shot.

Early May will see Bank Holiday celebrations.

The community can expect activities such as face painting and arts and crafts on Monday, May 4.

Celebrating the local flavours of Somerset, the Chard Guildhall plans to host a Somerset cheeses and cider talk on Saturday, May 9, although this event is to be confirmed.

Later in the month, a belly dancing hafla is set to take place on Saturday, May 23, while drag queen Miss Tina Sparkle and guests will make an evening appearance at the Guildhall on Friday, May 29.

June will bring Fish and Chips Bingo, marking National Fish and Chips Day on Friday, June 5.

Chard's very own theatre company, CLOKS, will perform the musical We Will Rock You from Thursday, July 2, to Saturday, July 4.

The much-loved annual Chard Horticultural Show will return on Saturday, July 11 at the Guildhall.

Fans can look forward to an exciting time on Sunday, July 19, as the football World Cup final will be shown on a big screen in the venue.

The Chard Summer Ball takes place on Saturday, August 22, in celebration of the finer season.

The autumn schedule, which is packed with thrills, features a live performance from The Virtues on Friday, September 18.

An exciting Chard Carnival night will take place on Saturday, October 10.

October's fun ends with a bang as a lively Barn Dance featuring The Twerzels will take place on Saturday, October 24.

To catch a glimpse of Chard's talented pool of residents, head to Chard’s Got Talent, which takes place on October 16, 17, and 18.

The talent show will be open to any kind of performer, and party-goers can expect a fun, family-friendly celebration.
