A HISTORIC thatched roof pub is set to reopen with a party this week after delays to the original re-opening date.
The Yarcombe Inn, near Chard, will officially reopen tomorrow (Friday, June 13) at 6pm, with complimentary prosecco available.
Originally set to reopen on May 30, the pub is back with complimentary prosecco and live music from 8pm as well as Amuse-bouche (bite-sized dishes).

In 2020, the Yarcombe Parish Council's application for the pub to be classified as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) was approved, and the ACV now remains active until 2025.
The Parish Council are also expected to reapply when it expires in September 2025.
Known as one of the few thatched roof pubs in the area, the history of the Yarcombe Inn goes back nearly 1000 years.
Formerly known as The Angel Inn, documents both in the public domain and in private ownership prove that The Yarcombe Inn was in use some 900 years ago as a Church House providing succour for wayfarers, a tradition that has continued to this day.
The pub also hit TV screens in late October 2009 after a closure of several years. The Yarcombe Inn became Community-run following an appearance in an episode of Jay Smith's TV programme "Save Our Boozer" broadcast on Channel Dave.
According to Yarcombe.net, the pub remained Community-run until mid-2013 when the then-chef took on the lease, but in August 2014 it closed again.
Fast forward to 2025, and with many publicans trying to make a go of the Yarcombe Inn, the pub is back under new ownership. Justine and Kieran are the new owners and have run community village pubs in the past.
Speaking ahead of the reopening via social media, a spokesperson from the Yarcombe Inn said, "Sorry for the radio silence this week — it's been all hands on deck from morning to night, getting everything ready for the grand reopening of The Yarcombe Inn.
"The beer lines are being installed as we speak (yes, cutting it close – but we love a bit of drama ), and we’re buzzing to finally open our doors tomorrow, Friday, June 13.
We’re hoping the sunshine makes a comeback by then (it's a bit soggy today), but come rain or shine — it’s going to be a great evening.
"Oh, and if you see us looking slightly panicked, it’s just our fridge delivery running late… but no worries, we’ve got buckets of ice and determination on our side.
"We can’t wait to see you all and raise a glass to the start of this new chapter."
