Adam Dance MP has today spoken out on the significance of Sexual Health Week on Monday September 9.
The awareness week underlines the critical role that education, awareness, and accessible services play in ensuring the wellbeing of individuals across the country.
Sexual Health Week, running from Monday 9th September - Sunday 15th September and promotes open conversations, tackle stigma, and encourage everyone to prioritise their sexual health.
Adam Dance MP, who was the Lead Member for Public Health on Somerset Council from 2022 - 2024, emphasised the need for comprehensive sexual education in schools, reliable access to sexual health services, and greater awareness of the many factors that contribute to sexual wellbeing—including consent, contraception, and sexual health testing.
Adam Dance also called on the government to invest further in public health campaigns and improve funding for sexual health clinics across the UK, particularly in rural areas. He stressed the importance of ongoing support for campaigns that highlight issues like contraception and sexual consent.
The MP also wants constituents to learn more about the importance of sexual health in their lives.
