SOMERSET has been subjected to torrential downpour since early Thursday morning, prompting several flood warnings and alerts to be issued by the Environment Agency.

Property flooding is expected at Chard Junction, Axe Farm, Coaxdon and Weycroft Cottages, Mosterton, Clapton, Tytherleigh and Broom, Axminster (Stoneybridge) according to the Environment Agency, as heavy rain has caused the River Axe to rise.

A spokesperson said: "Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas.

"People in this area should consider taking action now and install any property flood resilience measures. Remain safe and be aware of your local surrounding"

Flood warning area: riverside locations and roads between Winsham and Axminster, including Chard Junction, Coaxden Cottages and Weycroft.

The county has been place under a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office since 2am on Thursday, February 8, and the rain has only continued to pour down into Friday morning.

Officially, the Met Office warning period ended at 6am today, but a torrent of flood warnings and alerts issued late into last night state showers are still expected throughout the morning.

As many rivers look set to burst their banks after over 24 hours of heavy rain, here are all of the flood warnings and in affect across Somerset this morning.
