A LADIES rugby team is taking on the National Three Peaks challenge to raise funds for the club and help several good causes in Chard.

Chard RFC Ladies will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in 24 hours next year to raise funds for the Community Hub and support grassroots rugby.

Their fundraising page can be found here.

Cara Austin, the team’s vice-captain, said: “In September 2024, we plan to take on the National Three Peaks challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in 24 hours.

“We are raising funds for our rugby club, Chard RFC, and the Chard Community Hub charity which provides essential services to people in need.

“The money we raise will help to support grassroots rugby across the board at the club and be donated back into the community of Chard.

Chard & Ilminster News:

“We are taking on the challenge as the ladies' senior team and hope we inspire other young women and girls to know their strengths and what they can achieve.

“We will also be holding a fundraising Christmas fayre at Chard Rugby Club on December 15.

“Our aim is not only to raise as much money as possible for our club and the Chard Community Hub but to also raise awareness of what a team of strong women can achieve and help to promote the benefits of women's rugby within the South West at the same time.”
