CHARD-based boxer Paul Roberts secured the Southern Area Super Flyweight title at the weekend after an impressive stoppage win.

Roberts scored an amazing seventh round stoppage over London's Martin Hillman to win the belt at The York Hall, Bethnal Green, at the weekend.

It was Roberts' second Southern Area title, this time in a different weight class, further highlighting just how good he really is.

Roberts said: "Being the weight above my past few fights I feel good in how I've tried to bulk out after them.

"Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and to the people with messages of support I really appreciate it."

Paul will be handing out trophies this Saturday at the Chard & Crewkerne Amateur Boxing Show at Holyrood School, Chard.

Doors open at 6pm with boxing to start at 7pm where 18 bouts will take place, all consisting of boxers from the Chard and Crewkerne amateur boxing clubs.

A spokesperson from the club said: "Please come and support your local kids on the 18th November.

"Our club is a completely non profitable organisation that returns any profits back into opportunities for the local community.

"We are proud of each and everyone of our club members, so please show your support and come along for a great night of entertainment and see what these kids have been working so hard for."
