A CHARITY that supports autistic and socially anxious children, young adults and their families held an afternoon of fun activities at Magdalen Farm near Chard.

ASCape, a community-led charity based in Bridport, Dorset, held its family activity afternoon on Saturday, November 12.

There were two planned activities: Woodland adventure and mudslide and orienteering with low ropes.

The guests met at the farm's main building, where they were introduced to Magdalene Farm's team members and split into two groups.

Each group completed one of two activities, had a snack at the main building, and then completed the other activity.

Magdalen Farm, which specialises in school trips and residentials, is fully adapted for children with additional needs.

ASCape holds regular activities for autistic children and their families, who can find it difficult to access events with appropriate support.

The charity often uses the organic farm for nature-based sessions, and it also runs an after-school gardening club at Bridport St Mary’s School Edible Garden.

For older children, teens and young adults, it hosts a monthly youth club at Bridport Youth and Community Centre, social activities in the Bridport area, and an after-school art club with local artist Claire Nuttall.

Parents and carers have the opportunity to meet, chat and share at the family activity sessions as well as having a monthly support group and monthly wellbeing afternoons.

Magdalen Farm is an organic farm has hosted 6,382 guests this year, most of whom are primary school children on residential trips.

During non-school time, Magdalen hosts visits for families with children with special needs, young carers, adults with mental health difficulties and many other groups.
