I SEEM to have a never-ending trickle of casework coming through via emails and telephone and I try to give you information through this medium of what I think may be of interest to a wide range of people.

I refer to my brain at the moment as a collection of bingo balls in a bag and I have a rummage around every day and pull one out.

If I haven’t replied to you recently please get in touch and nag me.

The latest problem to land in my bag is the lack of a pavement connecting the new Crimchard development to the main footpath at the top of Morangis way.

This was a potential problem raised by myself at the original planning meeting for this new site but the developer’s agent tells us the pavement will not be completed until after all the houses are built.

I am pushing for this to be put in as soon as possible so watch this space.

One of the subjects that all voluntary groups that I have spoken to since Covid is the lack of members or volunteers since the pandemic, some are struggling to recruit help.

During one of the pandemic lulls I was walking through the town with my mum and I noticed a sign outside the British heart foundation shop asking for volunteers.

Being pretty sure that I had already had Covid and had time on my hands I dropped in and offered to help.

I absolutely love it and despite returning to my normal life I am still there despite struggling to fit it into my busy life.

There are so many local organisations who are waiting for you to contact them either as a volunteer or a member, youth organisations such as Brownies or the youth club, working with animals at the animal sanctuary, local charity shops, working with older people, the choice is endless.

Volunteering gives you a sense of fulfilment, experience, and new skills as well as making new friends and being good for your wellbeing.

For the group, your help it could make the difference between being able to exist or not.

On Sat October 15th the Chard Inner Wheel is having a showcase into local groups and voluntary organisations from 9.30am until 1.30pm.

This has been supported by a grant from Chard Town Council and will give local people a chance to come in and talk to some of our organisations that are desperate for your support.

Covid has caused so much suffering in the country don’t let local groups fold because of the change in our day-to-day life, please.

As always, I am available to contact on email jenny.kenton@somerset.gov.uk or by phone, 07921574019.
