CHIROPRACTIC Care Clinics are raising awareness of World Osteoporosis Day, taking place next month.

The day, marked on Thursday, October 20, is focused on drawing attention to osteoporosis and the dangers of the condition.

Chiropractic Care Clinics, operating in Yeovil, Crewkerne, and Beaminster, has launched a brand-new state-of-the-art Osteoporosis scanning service.

The service helps to screen for personal risk factors for the condition and can help confirm any reduction in bone density, identifying any early signs of bone weakening.

What is Osteoporosis?

One in three women and one in five men aged 50 years and over will suffer an osteoporotic fracture.

Osteoporosis causes bones to become weak and fragile, so they break easily - often as a result of a minor fall, a bump, or even a sneeze or a sudden movement.

Martin Young, clinic director of Chiropractic Care Clinics, says: "Osteoporosis is often called ‘the silent disease’ because it has no symptoms at all until your bones have become brittle enough to fracture; therefore, detecting problems at the earliest possible stage is really important so the condition can be prevented or reversed.

"Our new screening service can help identify the signs of osteoporosis and it takes no more than 20 minutes.

"This service is available at a discounted rate during the week of World Osteoporosis Day, (W/C 17th - 23rd October) to £39 (usually £56) at their Yeovil clinic."
