LEONARDO employees have presented Yeovil District Hospital’s Breast Cancer Unit Appeal with a cheque for £88,236.19 to celebrate the conclusion of an intensive three-year fundraising campaign, marking the highest record of charitable fundraising at the company to date.
Members of the Leonardo Yeovil Trainee Charity and Social Committee presented the cheque to Peter Lewis, chief executive of Somerset and Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts at a special celebratory dinner that took place at Westlands Entertainment Venue on September 23.
The funds raised will be used for the construction of a dedicated Breast Cancer Unit within the hospital that will include a consultation room, a waiting room, and a dedicated space for sensitive conversations around treatment.
It will also house special treatment areas for biopsies, mammograms, and ultrasounds that all play a vital role in patient care.
Speaking at the dinner, Adam Clarke, managing director of Leonardo Helicopters UK said: “I would like to extend a personal congratulations and well done to this year’s committee, and the previous two committees that have worked tirelessly through the pandemic in support of the Yeovil Hospital Breast Cancer Appeal. You have all achieved something wonderful in a very challenging time.”
