A LURCHER cared for at a Chard animal sanctuary is “desperately seeking her forever home”.

Amber, an 8-year-old Lurcher, is being cared for at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, near Chard, where she has been in kennels since November 2021.

Originally from a stray pound in Wales, she arrived at Ferne covered in wounds and sores all over her body and was a very sad and pitiful sight.

Amber is Ferne’s longest-staying dog at the moment.

It is unknown what happened to Amber, but since her arrival at Ferne, the kennel team has worked tirelessly to improve her body condition.

A spokesperson for Ferne Animal Sanctuary said: “Amber requires a home where she can have access to a fully secure, well-fenced garden/paddock She cannot live with cats, or any type of small furry animal.

“With other dogs Amber appears to prefer the company of other Sight Hounds, particularly males, so she may be able to share her new home with the right dog after meetings carried out at the Sanctuary.

“Amber loves playing with toys, she loves walks and she is a very sweet and sociable dog who loves a sofa cuddle in our Reception.

“She is extremely active and strong and suits an active, experienced dog-owning home.

“Sadly, Amber is starting to show signs of kennel-related anxiety/stress, and although the team is working hard every day to give her as much out-of-kennel time as possible Amber can often be heard crying and whining within her kennel.”
