HERE is a list of all the events taking place around Chard to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Thursday, June 2

Celebrations will start on Thursday, June 2 with free events between 10am and noon and 1pm and 3pm.

These will include a lantern-making workshop at Fore Street.

At 8.30pm there will be a Torch-Lit Parade to beacon assembles outside The Guildhall, Fore Street which will depart at 8.45pm.

Beacon Lighting will take place at 9.45pm.

Friday, June 3

A civic parade to St Mary’s Church assembles outside The Guildhall to depart at 10.15am.

At 11am there will be a Thanksgiving Service at St Mary’s Church, Holyrood Street.

A concert, from 7pm to 9pm will take place at The Guildhall.

Saturday, June 4

Family activities will be provided, free of charge, at Freedom Leisure Centre from 1pm to 4pm.

From 6pm to 10pm there will be an outdoor concert at the Beacon, Crowshute Link featuring folk-rock band Piratude and rock band Storm.

Sunday, June 5

The big Jubilee Lunch will take place from 11.30am to 3.30pm outside Freedom Leisure, Fore Street.

People are invited to bring their own picnic.
