THE Guildhall in Chard will host a comedy night next weekend, featuring comedians Tom Glover, Fiona Allen, Ricky Balshaw, and James Dowdeswell.

The comedy night will be held on Saturday, April 30, and form part of the Culturally Chard Spring Festival

The event has been organised by Trish Caller of Genius PR and Events with Chard Town Council.

Ahead of the comedy night, Trish said: “I remember some very big names in comedy appearing at the Chard Guildhall about 12 years ago.

“However, there hasn’t been any for many years.”

The comedy night will be compèred by Tom Glover, a comic from Axminster who is popular on the UK circuit.

The opening act will be Fiona Allen, a double-Emmy award-winning comedian known for starring in Smack the Pony, Skins, Eastenders, and Waterloo Road

Ricky Balshaw, the middle act of the night, is a Paralympic, World Championship and European Championship dressage medallist.

As a comedian, Ricky reached the semi-final of the 2021 BBC New Comedy Award competition and was nominated in the Best New Act category of the 2021 Midlands Comedy Awards.

He has headlined at comedy clubs throughout the UK and has performed in Europe and further afield in cities including Shanghai, Dubai, and Doha.

James has also appeared on Russell Howard's Good News, and he played The Count in Ricky Gervais' Extras.

Trish and the team at The Guildhall are planning to bring regular, top-class comedy and other entertainment acts to Chard.

Tickets cost £10 and are available from Eventbrite or from the Box Office at The Guildhall's reception.
