A PERSON has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A303 between Hayes End (Hayes End roundabout, Yeabridge) and A358 (Southfields roundabout, Horton Cross).

The accident took place this afternoon (March 31) at around 1.30pm.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 1.34pm on Thursday, March 31 to a road traffic incident on the A303.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle and two double-crewed ambulances. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital."


A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We received a call at 1.35pm following a collision involving a number of vehicles on the A303 between Southfields and South Petherton.

“Police and other emergency services attended the scene. One person has been taken to hospital by paramedics.

“The A303 was closed in both directions for a short amount of time but traffic is now flowing in both directions. Recovery work is ongoing and therefore traffic remains in the area.”


An initial update from Travel Somerset read: "One lane closed and queueing traffic due to accident on A303 Westbound between Hayes End (Hayes End roundabout) and A358 (Southfields roundabout, Horton Cross). Travel time is around 20 minutes."
