LOCAL songwriter Ryan Deag's band Nierra Creek have today released their latest single, an electronic rock ballad called 'Frontline'.

Ryan, who spent his childhood growing up in the Chard and Ilminster area and has since returned, is part of Nierra Creek alongside Swiss producer Sebastian Müller.

Their new single 'Frontline' has been released via AWAL and is now available on all streaming platforms (including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music and YouTube).

The band has described 'Frontline' as an explosive electronic rock ballad created with thunderous guitars and scorching synths, and as their most heart-wrenching offering to date.

Speaking about the new track, frontman Ryan said: "We wanted the music to represent the emotions that someone goes through as their world crumbles around them.

"For me, it was important to be more direct, to lay my cards on the table.

"'Frontline' is about still fighting for someone even when they have broken your heart."

Nierra Creek's music has been influenced by indie folk artists, including Bon Iver and LOW, and production-heavy artists like Jim-E Stack and Oneohtrix Point Never.

Their music has referenced Ryan's Somerset roots with the lyrics: "Back in Dominy close, boys learn to grow fast, everyone's the same, don't cry, that's the game."

In 2021, the duo released their eponymous debut EP Nierra Creek, completed a 10-date UK tour supporting MarthaGunn, and were featured on BBC Introducing in the south west as Sarah Gosling's 'fave find'.

They also played alongside Freya Ridings and The Amazons at St Pancras Old Church for Into the Song, and were featured on Slack City radio, Totally Wired, Platform B, and in BN1 Magazine.

Their music has been included in videos for Neighbourhood Skateclub UK, and they have amassed fans who proudly wear their sustainable, self-made merchandise.

Before retuning to Somerset, Ryan studied music in Brighton.
