TWO Chard women who have worked in the hairdressing industry for 15 years are looking forward to a fresh start in a new business.

Becks Hoare and Zoe Loader are moving to House of Envy, in Taunton, which is opening up this weekend.

They will be taking part in the grand opening of the business in Magdalene Lane on Saturday (February 12) between 10am and 4pm.

The premises previously housed the Nichares hair salon established by the late Nick Wills, from Broadway.

Becks and Zoe have been friends with the owner of the new business, Maddison Cheshire, since all three underwent their training 15 years ago.

Maddison said Saturday's opening will allow people to drop in and meet the team, chat about consultations and pick up advice on hair, beauty and aesthetics.

The first 50 people through the door will receive a goodie bag with vouchers and personal items.

Maddison added: "It's really exciting to be opening in Taunton.

"I've always lived here and all of us have built up a big client base.

"It just felt like the right time to do it.

"I've hit 30 and we've known each other and kept in touch for so long.

"I did some social work for a time, but didn't enjoy it as much as hairdressing.

"I love Taunton and wanted to combine that with the career I love too."

With time, Maddison plans to give opportunities to young apprentices to work alongside experienced practitioners such as Becks and Zoe.

"My daughter is in secondary school now and it would be nice to get her involved at some stage," said Maddison.

"I'd also like to take on a couple of other apprentices to help break them into the industry.

"There aren't a lot of Saturday jobs around here for teenagers and I'd like to do my bit to help."

From next week, House of Envy, located in an alleyway off the centre of the county town, will open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am until 6pm daily.

"We're all really looking forward to getting started," added Maddison.

"It's going to be great working with my old friends Becks and Zoe.

"We can't wait to get started and look forward to meeting clients old and new."
