THE fire service said farewell to two retirees this week.
Gary Knight and Neil Hazell retired from Chard Fire Station on Wednesday, December 8.
Gary joined the service in 1983, and is retiring after working in Chard for 38 years.
Neil joined the service in 1997, and served the town for 25 years.
A spokesperson for Chard Fire Station said: "They leave with a wealth of knowledge and experience we now have to fill.
"We can safely say that there is not one of us who hasn’t learnt something from them.
"This would be a good time to also mention the families of on call firefighters.
"Without their unwavering support, understanding and personal sacrifices we could not do the job we do.
"So please join us to say a huge thank you and congratulations to Gary, Neil and families for their commitment and dedication to this community and colleagues.
"Gary and Neil, simply enjoy! We will miss you both very much."
