A CHRISTMAS Tree Festival is set to return this year - after a two year break.

Chard Museum is hosting the tree festival from tomorrow (Friday, December 10) until Sunday, December 12.

There will also be two family workshops on December 12, with artist Jenny Mellings.

The workshops, which will run from 10.30am until 12.30pm and 1pm until 3pm, will focus on two themes.

These themes are Trees of Chard, which includes drawing and printing trees onto fabric.

For this workshop, guests will also be invited to create images for Chard community's new textile banners project.

As well as this, Jenny will be running a workshop on Ornamental Edging, where you can create decorative motifs based on signs, symbols and objects from Chard Museum's collection.

Guests will be able to print and stencil to create border designs for Chard community's new textile banners.

A spokesperson for Chard Museum said: "Come and see the festive trees and nativity scenes that schools, young people, groups and more have designed to welcome in the festive holiday.

"Your journey around the festival will be safely managed using the museum’s one-way system."

There is no cost and no need to book in advance. Festive refreshments including tea, coffee, soft drinks and mince pies will be available.
