RESIDENTS in Chard enjoyed some festive fun with carols and a parade on Saturday (December 4).

Chard Churches Together invited people to meet outside Manor Court School to walk with a 'host of angels' to Chard Beacon.

There was also the lighting of the nativity silhouettes made by Chard Men's Shed.

"There was a great turnout for the switching on of the lights of the nativity scene," said a spokesperson for the Men's Shed.

"It can be seen at the beacon in Crowshute Link, Chard."

The event was supported by Chard Town Council and Chard Carnival Club. Hot chocolate was served by Chard Carnival Club at the Beacon.

There will also be a Nativity Tableau with carol singers in costume outside the Chard Guildhall on December 11 and 18.

During these events, there will be a prayer tree, where residents are invited to write a prayer and hang it on the tree.
