A MAN is in critical condition after a crash in Chard yesterday morning (Saturday, November 27).
The incident, involving a silver Volkswagen Caddy van and a mobility scooter, happened on Furnham Road around 10.10am.
A man in his 80s was using the mobility scooter.
He sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital in critical condition.
The van driver is currently assisting Avon and Somerset Police with the investigation.
"We’re keen to hear from any witnesses and anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage," said a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police.
"Please call 101 and give reference number 5221279138."
The road was closed for several hours while paramedics attended and police carried out enquiries at the scene.
