CREWS received an early morning call to reports of a fire in a car park today.

A fire engine from Wincanton attended the scene at Carrington Way, in the town, at 1.11am.

A spokes person for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire control sent a fire engine from Wincanton after two calls stating there was a vehicle on fire in a car park.

"On arrival crews confirmed there was a van well alight and got to work using one breathing apparatus wearer and one hose reel jet along with a thermal imaging camera."

The van was 80 percent damaged by fire and there was heat damage to a further vehicle that had been parked next to it.

Police were also requested to attend.
