FIRE spread from a burning car in a courtyard on Fore Street in Chard.

Crews were called to reports a car was on fire shortly after 1.50am today.

The fire in the car, which was parked next to a wooden building, spread to another vehicle.

A fire service spokesman said: “Two fire appliances from Chard were mobilised to a car on fire in a courtyard, where the vehicle was up against a wooden building.

“Crews arrived on scene and got to work tackling the fire, which was spreading from one vehicle to a second and to the adjacent buildings.

“Crews confirmed the cause as deliberate and requested the Police attendance. Two vehicles and two buildings were involved in the fire and were damaged.”
