SOUTH Somerset looks to have a bright future – as a solar energy firm based in the area has quietly been enjoying increasing success.

Solar SW, based at Coombe Farm in Crewkerne, have been setting trends and are director Nick Keeler is now hoping that more people will consider solar power for their energy needs.

Mark Wheaton of J B Wheaton and Sons is another director giving the project his wholehearted support and the transport firm’s site in Chard Junction is impressive, with numerous photovoltaic panels capturing the sun’s rays to export energy to the grid.

Nick said: “There is 228 houses worth of photovoltaic power generated in this field. It is fantastic and it really works – we have been steadily working on this without making a fuss about it and have also brought a lot of employment to the area building this – we have 20 people working for us full time.”

With electric cars such as the Nissan Leaf proving ever more popular Solar SW are hoping more private individuals will now take an interest in the service they provide.

Nick added: “We have still got a long way to go here – but there are a lot of advantages. It is carbon free energy, it is here and it works every day. We are catching enough energy here to supply most of South Chard and there are no emissions.”

Solar SW will be holding open days in the months ahead and are urging people to watch this space. For more information call Solar SW on 01460-279571 or follow the link below.
