CHARD Museum's 40th anniversary celebrations are set to receive a blooming good boost with a flower festival next week.

The weekend-long free event, on July 3 and 4, has been organised by the town's Chard in Bloom committee and will feature an abundance of displays around the museum.

Museum chairman Tony Prior said: “Chard Museum has been a resounding success since it was founded by Brian Knight and others 40 years ago.

"Visitors from around the country come to see our Stringfellow exhibits, as well as visitors from the US.

“We hope that Chard residents will respond to this free flower festival by visiting the museum.”

Chard in Bloom members are also hoping town traders will support the celebrations with their own floral displays.
