Chard and Ilminster MP on two years in post at Westminster

Having been born at Yeovil District Hospital and lived in our area all my life, it means a great deal to represent communities like Chard, Ilminster, and our surrounding villages.

This is home, and I never take for granted the trust local people placed in me.

Since being elected, my team and I have worked hard every day to support residents and stand up for the issues that matter most.

Together, we've helped create more than 15,400 constituency cases, submitted 585 Parliamentary Questions to hold the Government to account, made 180 contributions in Parliament, and kept constituents updated with more than 26,000 policy emails.

Of course, there is far too much to mention in one column, but there have been some real milestones over the past two years.

We've successfully campaigned for the safe reopening of Yeovil's maternity unit, welcomed two new NHS dental practices to the constituency, established regular farming and SEND forums so local voices are heard, and continued pressing for improvements to NHS services, rural transport, and public infrastructure.

I've also had the privilege of visiting schools, farms, businesses, charities, and community groups across Chard, Ilminster, and the wider constituency.

Whether it's discussing the future of farming, listening to concerns about NHS appointments, supporting local high streets, or celebrating the achievements of young people, those conversations shape the work I do in Westminster.

I know there are still significant challenges facing our communities.

Access to healthcare continues to be one of the biggest issues raised with me, alongside housing, rural crime, shoplifting, and the pressures facing family farms.

These are not problems that can be solved overnight, but they are issues I continue to raise with Ministers and campaign on both locally and nationally.

Being your MP isn't simply a job.

It is a responsibility that continues every day of the week, whether I'm in Parliament or back home meeting residents across the constituency.

There is always more to do, and I know not everyone will feel enough progress has been made.

I understand those frustrations, and they only strengthen my determination to keep fighting for our communities.

Over the next two years, I'll continue campaigning for better access to NHS appointments and dentistry, stronger SEND provision, safer communities, better transport links, and greater investment in our rural economy.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the past two years, especially my hardworking team, who go above and beyond every day to help constituents.

It is a privilege to represent the place I've always called home, and I look forward to continuing that work.
