A CHARD woman was invited to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace this month after running Chard Carers Support Group for the last 20 years.
On May 12, Pat Galpin attended Buckingham Palace with her husband John and said she found the whole event to be a "wonderful experience."
"I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed being there; it was a wonderful experience.
"I’m finding it quite difficult to get back to normal.
"The whole day was magical.
"Not only did we see the King and Queen Consort, but also the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
"There were two military banks playing, quite an atmosphere."

According to Pat, there were 7,400 people who attended, and she felt she was "very lucky" to get a good view of the whole event.
Pat also said Rob Rinder (Judge Rinder) was sitting at her table.
Chard Carers Support Group runs on the second Monday of the month, every month.
The group meets at the English Martyrs Hall and is there from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
She said: "It gives carers the chance to meet other carers who are all in the same or similar situation.
"We can help and listen to them.
"Sometimes we have speakers, sometimes social mornings.
"Then between meetings we arrange to go for lunch or trips when the carers are able to bring the cared for, if they are able to come."
