A NEW gym has opened in Chard with a focus on personalised training in a private setting.

AG Fitness, based on the Millfield Estate in Chard, opened this month and is the creation of Amy Greenhalgh, a personal trainer dedicated to making fitness more accessible and less intimidating for everyone.

The gym offers one-to-one training, weekly classes, and small group sessions in a newly renovated space featuring modern cardio equipment, free weights, and functional training areas.

Ms Greenhalgh said: "Building the gym has been about creating something that Chard really needs: a small, well-equipped gym with high-quality, individualised coaching.

"The goal of the gym is to make fitness and strength training open to everybody by removing the barriers.

"Gym floors can feel intimidating, and there’s a perception that gyms are for a certain type or even age of person.

"But my gym is private, so during sessions with me, the space is yours, the support is always there, and it’s focused on you."

Programmes are tailored to each client, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes seeking strength and conditioning.

Ms Greenhalgh said: "If you’ve never set foot in a gym before or you’re an athlete looking for strength and conditioning gains, I can design a programme tailored to you and guide you through each session."

To mark the official opening, AG Fitness is offering anybody interested in training with Amy a free one-to-one taster session. This offer is valid for the month of June only.

The gym operates without a membership or contract model.

All sessions—whether personal training, group classes, or small group sessions—are booked directly with Ms Greenhalgh and charged per 45 minutes.

Sam Wooton said: "I was exercising regularly but stuck in a rut.

"Amy’s one-to-one training programme changed all that, and I’m completing cardio and strength work I didn't know I could and noticing changes in my physique that I genuinely hadn't expected."

New client Annabel Burt shared a similar experience: "My sister and I train together with Amy, and we’ve never felt judged or out of place, which has made such a difference.

"We’ve gone from being nervous about the gym to actually enjoying it.

"And I can really feel a difference in my day-to-day strength and flexibility."
